A place without trees? Just wouldn't feel right, would it?

PONGA or Fern Trees of New Zealand

Trees Ferns are characteristic of NZ, with the Silver Fern being found only in NZ. The silver fern has been accepted as a symbol of New Zealand’s national identity since the 1880s.

The silver or white is only found on the underside of mature fronds; it reflects the moonlight and was used by the Maori to light pathways in the bush.

Stunning, like giant umbrellas! Amazing!

And those little spirals within the spirals are a pure delight.

And what a brilliant way to use the reflective silver on the leaves to light up the path in the dark. Love it.
