Well reading all those posts has been a hell of a roller-coaster emotional ride!!!!!
I loved all the characters I have met - Wendy, Kitkat and last but very much not least the grandmothers - they all sound so absolutely wonderful - so warm and rich in humanity.
Indeed I think our memories of a lot of the food that was cooked for us when we were young is so memorable not because it was the most extraordinary, but because it is so heavily associated with love and warmth and being home - one big hug.
Dementia leaves me sad even when, as with my mother-in-law, you realise that the person with the disease is actually very happy, which of course is lovely, but the time it takes for it to take hold can be such a difficult time for those around as the person you once knew is slowly taken away. A stealing of so much you thought you knew. It can be very cruel for so many. I struggle to remember my father-in-law before he had dementia.
But yes Wendy certainly makes you think twice!!!
