We are delighted to welcome You at
Piccadilly Harbour!

We are hoping to create a safe haven here for a group of fabulous women to share their thoughts and art.
A well of inspiration.
A Harbour where ships embark to sail the Seven Seas and return to share their tales and treasures.

Before you pull up your anchor and push off the shore,
please read all the information in this Topic Thread!

Here you will find useful tips to get you started, posting guidelines and the general housekeeping stuff.

Please come and check in at our 'Hello!' thread!

You can find out a little bit about us and introduce yourself in more detail in the "Such Fine Company" thread.

If there is anything you can't find the answers to within this board, or under the FAQ button on the front page, please ask us in a PM
(Personal Message).

Bon Voyage, Fair Maidens!

Now you've made it this far, it's time to make yourself at home.

Click on the little arrow next to your user name above the Piccadilly banner in the top right corner, select "User Control Panel" where you can set your preferences, access your Personal Messages and create an avatar in "Profile" if you like. (125 x 125px max size)

You can read the introductions of our members in "Such Fine Company" and it would be lovely if you could add yourself to that.

Have fun exploring the boards and topics.
Before you start posting in a new board, please read the announcement on top, which will give you some guidelines and ideas regarding what and how to post.
Then start posting in the existing topics, and feel free to start your own.

The FAQ section provides extensive help on most things you would want to know. (Located above the Piccadilly banner.) You will also find the handy "Quick Links" function there which is a pull-down menu where you can select "Unread Posts", "Your Posts", "New Posts", etc.

If you find the site is loading slowly, clear your computer cache of cookies.

If you're a novice to posting pictures and moving images, please read on.

Posting images from the internet:

You can right-click on most images on the internet and select "copy image location". This will allow you to transfer the URL code for that particular image. Press the image icon (the little framed picture between the star and the chain link icons) above the posting box and "paste" between [ img] and [/img].

You can also post moving images (gifs) the same way:

Posting images from your own device and editing:

We can recommend this free online photo editor, where you can upload and edit photos from your own device (click on File/Open...) or from the internet using the URL code of the image (File/Open URL).

(You get the URL code by simply clicking on an image on the internet and select "copy".)

https://www.photoeditor.com

By clicking 'Basic' you can quickly crop and resize photos. There are also many other fun features you can experiment with. After you've edited your picture, make sure you save your file (under File: share/save online) then copy the new code (Direct link), and follow procedure with the image buttons explained above.

To give you a rough guide for pixel sizes, picture widths, when you resize:

Large: ~ 750
Medium: ~ 500
Small: ~ 250
Avatar: max 125x125

Creating an Avatar in your Profile:

Use https://www.photoeditor.com/ to crop and resize your chosen picture to a maximum of 125x125 pixel. Then save the image in this size to your device and upload it direct from your picture library.

Another free converter for your images (from your device to online image):

Embedding YouTube videos:

How to embed YouTube videos in your posts depends on whether you post from a tablet/smart phone or a PC:

1. If you are posting from an iPad or such like: click on the link to the YouTube clip and select copy, press the youtube button and paste your link between

Your link will look something like this:

https://youtu.be/nFAK8Vj62WM

2. If you want to post a video from a PC, you should use the youtube1 button.

On a PC your link will look something like this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFAK8Vj62WM

If you are still unsure about something, you can always message Lori or Dee for help.

"I believe in kindness. Also in mischief."
~ Mary Oliver

A polite request to abide by the following, to ensure smooth sailing for all...

 • Please only post in English. You're welcome to use other languages in Personal Messages and, of course, in language-related threads.

 • We all meander at times, but generally try to stick to the topic being discussed. Off topic posts might get moved to more appropriate threads.

 • Please refrain from heated discussions of politics and religion, unless you are in a topic thread specifically allocated to these subjects - where you should only enter if you can take the heat. Any such discussion elsewhere will be moderated.

 • Please do not spam (submit an irrelevant or advertising post). Any post considered spam will be removed.

 • Please refrain from swearing unnecessarily. We have a fairly relaxed attitude here regarding the use of swear words, but if we feel you've gone overboard, your post might get edited.

 • As with all social media sites, personal safety is something to consider. When you post, please be aware that this is a public forum and your private and personal information should be guarded. We request that our members be eighteen years of age or older to that end.

Not much else to say, other than be kind, play nice and have fun!
