First things first: Connie and Daryl teaming up again, in their search for Kelly. And this actually happened in the show for real. I was practically hyperventilating when I first saw this:
I mean, they couldn't have made this any cuter if they'd tried.
Slightly nostalgic here, for the last time Daryl held hands with someone... but I'm so here for this blossoming little something he's got going with Connie. They don't even try to hide their crush on each other, it's so endearing. But perhaps this was a tad too much for Daryl to handle at the end:
I loved Connie's expressions though. A smile over what they've just shared and then sadness about him leaving, missing him already. I can't wait for more. A Daryl-Connie bottle episode would be fine with me, just sayin.

Another fantastic episode, and I'm so thrilled about how this season is going.
Such interesting stories are everywhere. The drift between Magna and Yumiko. Magna planning on leaving, though at this stage it's not clear whether she still wants Yumiko be part of that. She kind of self-sabotaged there, burning bridge after bridge with Yumiko. Yumiko has clearly fully integrated into Hilltop and devotes herself to defend the community, whilst Magna is stealing resources from them. Their old group is disintegrating. Luke is off to pursue a love interest, Magna and Yumiko on the verge of breaking up, Connie falling for Daryl, Kelly having real troubles and quite possibly not surviving this season.
The Whisperers drama was also quite intriguing this week, with the revelation that Gamma too has PTSD, and massive anxieties and definite misgivings about how Alpha runs the show. Aaron using kindness as a weapon, interesting seed sown there too. Alpha now wants to utilise Aaron's apparent weakness of kindness and use Gamma as a spy/bait. This will be so interesting to watch. Espeically when Gamma at some point inevitably finds out about Lydia. Surely that will be a deal breaker for her. Samantha Morton continues to be mesmerising.
So Ezekiel has cancer. My heart broke for him when he couldn't bring himself to tell Carol. Hopefully Siddiq will tell her. Ezekiel is such an interesting mixture of incredible heroic courage followed by complete meltdowns. He was never one of my faves, but I did like him with Carol, and basically any time he let the king act drop. I will miss him, but also feel his story has been told well, and it is coming now to a natural end. I bet though he's going to go out in some amazing act of bravery, with a truly nothing left to lose attitude, - he could do anything now.
But this episode's best part was undeniably
Negan's story line for me. The complexity of this character and Jeffrey's acting in this episode was mindboggling. I felt he was mostly disgusted by Brandon making him reflect on his glory days. He had no choice but kill that psycho. But there it was, step by step he was being pushed back into his Negan persona, that he now seems to have embraced again to deal with the enemy. It's a character he plays. But he's so messed up inside with all his unresolved issues with guilt and grief, his revelling in controlling and manipulating people, and his obvious propensity for brutality. But still, underneath all that there is someone infuriatingly likeable, so the whole package of Negan is one fascinating tangled mess. Can't wait to see how he's planning to handle himself now in the enemy camp.
I could go on and on ... but wait till you catch up.

I'm Lukewarm on Luke and asleep regarding Magna and Yumiko, but dancing a jig for Connie & Daryl. Every step Michonne takes piques my interest.

I think this is one of the best villain story lines ever on TWD. Alpha is mesmerizing in each and every frame. Occasionally, I think she will be bested and the actress predictable, but with exception of that episode as few back which taught us nothing new about the Whisperers she remains fascinating. Aaron is at risk here. Kindness barely works with Lydia and she seems to be the softest of the sisters with regards to humanity. We shall see. It indeed will be interesting!

I'm apparently dead inside as I was simply surprised he did not annoy the shit out of me. sry These were good scenes, but my heart was not flapped. (He did impress me with the kiss previously - I didn't think he had it in him.) I will care about Carol's reaction to this sad news. No doubt he will go out with a marching band playing in some fabulous way. It's time.

Oh. My. Gosh!! THIS tore my heart open. How fragile is this crazed psyche and how better to test it with a violent end to a child?! Negan, in spite of his horrific acts, has always had a weird laud of children. Interesting how he spares them death, yet ruins their lives by what they witness at his hands. As with most things Negan, it makes no sense and makes perfect sense. Negan is a character once again who makes us question our propensities, toggling between revulsion and being drawn in by what you coined as his "infuriating likeability"! How can we even entertain a positive note with this character? I blame Jeffrey's natural abilities and general appearance. If he looked like Eugene, for instance, I think we would balk. Charisma, baby...charisma!
I could go on and on ... but wait till you catch up.
