I haven't seen this photograph before. Awesome. Thanks for posting, MC! It's great to know the chap has survived it... he seems quite leisurely, don't you think? Hand in a pocket, like he could be just checking if his taxi had arrived... He must have been a weather hardened lighhouse kerper, but even so... surely he must have had some heart palpitations after he shut that front door on these waves! Perhaps these were the waves that washed his door and furniture away! Frightful scenario.

I must admit he looks as if he is casual, but I can't imagine that he really was. If I had been him I think I would be a bit put out with Jean Guichard for not warning me somehow but maybe that wasn't possible. Here is a photo after the keeper has had the sense to go indoors.

As long as you don't mind the waves pounding at the windows, looks like we could live in style ladies!!The inside, however, is another story. The floor is oak adorned with mahogany and ebony inlays, the walls are panelled in oak from Hungary, the stairwell is tiled and the enclosed beds are worthy of farms in Brittany. Indeed, Phare de Kéréon was nicknamed "The Palace" because of its lavishly decorated interior.

How awesome to find these interior photos here today! It looks incredibly treacherous to get in there-YIKES. Even for the people on the boat dropping off the light keeper.
But all that mahogany?! SWOON I do wonder how it sounds inside! I absolutely love this one...we could play some wicked card games in there

I do love the mahogany but it's not exactly cosy is it? do you think those two white objects on the polished floor could be slippers- you know like the ones you get in some stately places where you have to put them over your shoes so as not to damage the floor?
As for the beds - I can't decide whether I really like them or whether I'd feel really claustrophobic - they're a bit coffin like!
We could have a great time sliding around though!

You know, you're right about the wood. We need a few gorgeous rugs and big pillows on the floor to soften it up.

What a genius of design you are NR - this looks much more like it. Sometimes it takes just a little extra touchNurseRatched wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2017 5:52 pmYou know, you're right about the wood. We need a few gorgeous rugs and big pillows on the floor to soften it up.
