Such a beautiful project, especially when you hear Rone explain why he is drawn to paint in places like this:

He's amazing. It's not just that he can create beautiful images of women. That in itself is applaudable. To do it on such a grand scale is admirable. But I'm in awe of the concept of creating beauty on decaying walls. And he's not doing it just for the obvious metaphor of showing mortality and how fleeting youth and beauty are. He finds beauty in decay. His work on these walls is about feeling love for these places at their crumbling stage, celebrating their faded past, giving these spaces a beautiful sendoff by tuning into their essence, evoking their soul, and painting them in the shape of a female face. It's like giving a dying man a party.

The canvases are also stunning, but rather than working with the texture of a wall he creates his own "wall" by layering paints and pasteups before he distresses the canvas. I love watching him work. A wonderful artist with a beautiful soul.

Perfect description. The video is fascinating. I cannot imagine the solace he works in.

It's interesting, isn't it? A derelict place naturally oozes negative vibes. But somehow Rone manages to transform these places and fills them with life and comfort. Solace is a perfect word. He fills these spaces with solace.
