Aurora
Aurora Aksnes (born in 1996), known mononymously as Aurora is a Norwegian singer, songwriter and record producer.
I'm totally enchanted by this young lady. I've immersed myself in her music for the past few days. I think she's amazing. A crystal clear voice she can use with gentle softness but also with soaring brightness. Beautiful melodies and harmonies swirl in her songs, feisty Scandinavian chants, rousing percussion, great lyrics... Her music reminds me of Enya and Björk - part of her acknowledged influences, - a little bit of Ane Brun, Imogen Heap... but her music is refreshingly original and engaging. She's a free spirit through and though, unafraid of experimenting. She also comes across as a very engaging and interesting little sprite of a woman in interviews. Like Billie, she's started writing songs at a very young age, and some the songs on he first album were written when she was only 12 years old. Like Runaway. (Funnily enough, I heard Billie say in an interview talking about her early influences, that this particular song was the one that made her fully realise what she wants to do with her life.)
Discography:
All My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend (2016)
Infections of a Different Kind (Step 1) (2018)
A Different Kind of Human (Step 2) (2019)

So this thread has come about because Peggy has sent me this cover to listen to:
A pretty awesome cover, if not quite perfect, but it's not easy to cover perfect songs.
I've come across Aurora in passing before, but this has made me delve into her music more, and now I can't seem to stop!

She had me at "pi-llow" in the first song. Love her pronunciations, phrasing and crystal clear voice! Will keep listening. I needed this, thanks, Dee....
The more you listen, the better it gets, truly. I'm so glad she has piqued your interest too! I've been playing her tracks over and over, and I think I'm in love with her music.
And pi-llow... yes, she's just a sweet little moonchild.
