Aren't they just brilliant and the sweetest? Thank you so much for posting this, Kari, it has put the crown on my day. It's really great how Ellen would get sponsors for these young street artists!

A dear old soul playing on the streets of Melbourne:

I pressed play and within a few minutes I was in floods of tears. There are some chord changes here, segments of melodies that will break your heart. And something about this fragile old little bird with her knobbly fingers teasing out these wonderful sounds from the piano and giving it to all to anyone who'd come by to listen.

This music was improvised on the spot. Never been written down, played before or since.

This amazing lady, Natalie Trayling, is 84 years old. She is a classically trained musician.

Far from a privileged life, Natalie's life was full of heartache and hardship. She tragically lost two of her daughters, her marriage broke down, she lost her home. She lived in the streets for a long while. Eventually found a hotel where they gave her a room for playing to the guests. She likes playing in the streets, hoping her music will reach people who don't go to concert halls. She plays the great classics but also her own compositions.

Rejoice in the human spirit, folks.

Ah, me! Thanks for sharing this, Dee. Simply beautiful. What a talented little lady. Her story is one mixed with incredible sadness but an indomitable spirit. Such beauty she is sharing!

Don't know how I missed the beatboxer video you've posted above, Lori, Dave Crowe performing on the streets of London. Brilliant.

She has quite a gift. I was imagining all the places she’s played in her years at the piano; maybe to the upper class, dressed in gowns and tuxedos. But her story! How life can take you in its teeth and shake you like a rag doll. And yet, she chooses to bring her amazing talent to others. Thanks for sharing her!
