An unexpected new discovery at the Young Voices concert we’ve just been to… a phenomenal young violinist, Anna Phoebe.

She can do just about anything on her violin, classical, folk, rock, does amazing covers of Bowie songs and writes her own music too. I’ve been listening to her album Sea Souls all day. Just beautiful.

Here’s a taster:

A friend of mine has recently discovered Nick Drake and I’ve been listening to his music the last couple of days… I’m quite taken by this young man, who died so very young and never knew how much future generations appreciated his music.
I love the song above, and also Cello Song.

And here is a brief video about Nick’s tragic life.

Sad that Nick D. couldn't enjoy his popularity - I say popularity rather than success because he was successful in so many ways. Tragic it truly is.

This song has been my ear worm since yesterday morning when we did a samba piece at a workshop built around the refrain of this song, at Drum Camp. Sooooo good!!!

Hmmmm not sure why the YouTube embedding is not working today! :sign0085:

That is a celebratory drum contagion in all the good ways! That must be so fun to play. It’s beyond my ken with my midwestern Caucasian foot tapping but I can appreciate it nearly fully. Very fun!
