Interment
I love your mystery
I don’t want to dissect you to reveal what you mean to me
Until this thing called Love is laid out in little squares across my floor
With labels to qualify, quantify, defend, explain
Until the question bodes, “What is Love anyway?”
You are bigger than that - larger than words
Broader than minds - deeper than souls
If you are the wind, you are lost to me
If you are the stars, you are beyond my reach
If you are the earth, you are too hard for me
Be beyond my ken
Be held within my arms
Stay silently a loss for words
Lest they devastate and lay to waste your fragile clarity
I love your bold enigma
A beckoning they cannot see so decry your potency
Until you are denatured down to the every day in flat defined dimension
What label can they offer now without offending someone?
Until you wash away in the wave of commonplace, “Who needed Love anyway?”
You are higher than that, beyond earthly binding
Soaring through my heart searing your perfection
If you are illusion, let me lose my bearings
If you diminish worth, let that be my undoing
And if a silver thread, pull me madly to you
Be my lifeline then
Be safe within these walls
Stay secretly the deepest hue
Midnight violet, ruby ascension, indigo blue
Stay living and breathing, pulsing on the precipice of my fingertips
Then, with a slow and flowing interment, take me back to you
