Just resurrecting this as I have only just seen it!

Oh my. What a series...it only had about 8 episodes if I'm remembering correctly but each one is a sublime illustration of British humour. So so glad it translates so well in the USA.

Poor downtrodden Basil and his hapless spanish sidekick (whom he abused in kind)... in a completely hilarious way of course.

My fave has to be the German episode....Whatever you do...don't mention the war!

ETA: it had 2 series, 6 episodes in each but it made such an impact... too funny.

Thanks for bringing me back in here! Fawlty Towers translates well to a certain segment of US citizens, right Lori? I would say that some people just don't get it! Basil and Sybil could slice you in two with their wickedly funny jabs & you wouldn't even know you'd been slammed verbally....British humor, indeed! :57: :72:
